The heart of the band, longtime real-life friends Stacy Robin (vocals/ percussion), Tom McCauley (guitars /bass/vocals) and Donna Rawlins (vocals/guitar) have worked together on various music projects as far back as 1988. In 1995, Donna joined forces with Stacy and Tom, to form IMAGINARY FRIENDS. They are joined by Barrie Berg (percussion), David James (mandolin/violin), Mike Yorky (bass) and Dayna Franklin(drums). Other talented friends of FRIENDS make guest appearances live and in the studio.

IMAGINARY FRIENDS appreciates any opportunity to make a difference, performng benefits including the Stop Cancer Beverly Hills Run/Walk, Center Theatre Group special performances of "Rent" and "Bring in da Noise /Bring in da Funk" at the Ahmanson theater, Cedars Sinai Center for Women's Health "Sound of Spirit" Breast Cancer Benefit, and fundraisers for Aids Project LA. They have also performed for seniors and pre-school children at ONE multigenerational facility, in schools for "Stay in School" pep rallies, and created a presentation on "Acting & Singing in the Real World" for high school students.
