Imaginary Friends strike a pose
before the show |
|
Built on an accomplished folk foundation, flavored with pop, roots rock, and world music flourishes, Imaginary Friends is a diverse and unique among today's acoustic pop groups.
Lead singers Stacy Young and Donna Rawlins create a magical vocal blend. Donna lays down rhythm while the percussionist Stacy takes the audience on a honeymoon of world-music rhythms on djembe and other drums, shakers, tricks, and toys.
Tom McCauley's precision guitar work marries Imaginary Friends' roots-rock sound to a contemporary jazzy sensibility. David James broadens the sonic range with mandolins and violins. The rhythm section is rounded out by Barrie Berg (congas and other percussion), Dayna Franklin (drums) and Mike Yorky (bass).
